Credentials
Sharon Sellet
In 1972 I began my intentional career as an educator and fine arts specialist in secondary education. Six years later, that changed with the birth of our middle son, who was born with Spina Bifida - a neurological condition causing paralysis of the lower body which required use of a wheelchair for mobility. Within a short time, I was propelled into the ranks of researcher, healthcare system expert, insurance negotiator and family advocate. If it had to do with "navigating the system" -- you name it, I did it! For me, thinking outside the box and creative problem-solving became basic requirements of living.
And this is how I landed, passionate as could be, in my second career - program coordinator of the Family /Professional Resource Center at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, Ohio. In this capacity, I assisted parents of children with chronic conditions and disabilities and professionals working with these children in finding resources and support to meet their needs in the community.
I have held appointments at the local and state level in advocating for system change and developing new partnerships for service. I have presented regionally and nationally on what it takes to support families of children with disabilities and how to reduce stress when a family is challenged by chronic health conditions.
I earned my coaching experience through formal training at CoachVille and by helping families and individuals develop the skills to navigate the rocky terrain of institutional "systems". With the wisdom gained, I can help craft strategies to assist you to realize your own best hopes for the future.
